How Aspire Lending collects, uses, stores and protects your personal data.
1. Who we are
Aspire Lending ("Aspire", "we", "us") provides financing products in Kenya from Rehema Place, Office Suite D24, Ngong Road, Opposite Prestige Mall, P.O. Box 803-00232, Nairobi, Kenya. For any privacy matter, contact info@aspirelenders.co.ke or 0791 200 500.
2. The data we collect
To assess and manage loan facilities we collect: identity data (name, National ID, KRA PIN, passport photo); contact data (phone, email, address); financial data (M-PESA statements, bank statements, income information); asset data (vehicle and logbook details, valuations); business data (registration documents, CR12, board resolutions) where applicable; and records of our communications with you.
3. Why we process it
We process personal data to: assess loan applications and affordability; verify identity and prevent fraud; prepare and administer loan agreements and securities; arrange insurance connected to a facility; communicate with you about your application or account; meet legal and regulatory obligations; and, only with your consent, send you relevant product information.
4. Legal basis
We process data under the Kenya Data Protection Act, 2019 on the bases of: performance of a contract (your loan); compliance with legal obligations; our legitimate interests in operating a responsible lending business; and consent, where specifically requested (for example, marketing).
5. Sharing
We share data only as needed to provide your facility or as required by law: with valuers, insurers and registrars connected to your loan; with credit reference bureaus where applicable; with professional advisers under confidentiality; and with authorities where legally required. We do not sell personal data.
6. Security and retention
We apply appropriate technical and organisational safeguards to protect personal data against unauthorised access, alteration or loss. Data is retained for as long as needed to administer your facility and to meet legal record-keeping obligations, after which it is securely deleted or anonymised.
7. Your rights
Under the Data Protection Act, 2019 you have the right to be informed about how your data is used; to access data we hold about you; to correction of inaccurate data; to deletion where processing is no longer justified; to object to certain processing; and to lodge a complaint with the Office of the Data Protection Commissioner (ODPC).
